    About
"A Pickle for the Knowing Ones" is a fascinating personal memoir by Lord Timothy Dexter, an eccentric and self-made man who defied convention and rose to success through a series of unusual business ventures. Originally published in 1802, this unusual short autobiography known for its unique writing style includes the "punctuation page" which he famously added in the second edition. Dexter's memoir is filled with his witty observations, sharp criticisms, and strange musings on life, society, and politics. He frequently complains about the perceived injustices of the world and the ignorance of his peers, offering scathing critiques of everything from the government to organized religion. But what sets Dexter's memoir apart is his unconventional use of punctuation, which includes a liberal and often random placement of commas, periods, and other marks. Dexter believed that his use of punctuation was not only correct but also innovative.
Through his humorous and often absurd observations, Dexter provides a unique window into the mind of an eccentric and self-made man.
